Description

These Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches are a creative twist on the classic cheesecake. With crispy bread on the outside and a creamy strawberry cheesecake filling inside, they are indulgent yet easy to prepare. Perfect for dessert, a special brunch, or a sweet snack, they combine rich flavors with simple preparation steps.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of sandwich bread
  • 200 g (about 7 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying (vegetable oil works well)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in the finely chopped strawberries.
  2. Assemble the sandwiches: Lay out the bread slices. Spread a generous spoonful of the filling on one slice, then top with another slice of bread to form a sandwich. Press lightly to seal the edges. Repeat with the remaining bread.
  3. Set up the coating station: Place flour in one shallow bowl. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk. In a third bowl, add breadcrumbs.
  4. Coat the sandwiches: Dip each sandwich into the flour, coating all sides. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, making sure it is completely covered. Finally, coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing lightly so the crumbs stick well.
  5. Heat the oil: Pour enough vegetable oil into a deep frying pan to reach a depth of about 1–2 inches. Heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F). Test by dropping a breadcrumb into the oil — it should sizzle and rise to the surface.
  6. Fry the sandwiches: Carefully place one or two sandwiches in the hot oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve: Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm. Optionally, pair with ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh strawberries instead of frozen.

Keep the oil at a steady temperature to avoid soggy sandwiches.

To make a lighter version, bake the coated sandwiches at 200°C (400°F) for 15–18 minutes, flipping once.

Try variations by substituting strawberries with blueberries, peaches, or raspberries.
