Description

This delightful flatbread offers a harmonious blend of sweet and savory notes. A crisp, golden flatbread base is generously topped with vibrant, juicy sliced strawberries, creamy crumbled goat cheese, and fresh basil leaves. A drizzle of rich balsamic glaze completes the dish, creating a sophisticated balance of tangy, sweet, and herbaceous flavors with a satisfying textural contrast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pre-made flatbreads (about 8x4 inches each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 4 ounces goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced (chiffonade)
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade reduction)
  • Pinch of black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place flatbreads on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush the flatbreads with olive oil.
  3. Arrange the sliced strawberries evenly over the flatbreads.
  4. Crumble the goat cheese over the strawberries.
  5. Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the flatbread edges are golden and the cheese is slightly softened and warm.
  6. Remove from the oven. Drizzle generously with balsamic glaze.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil chiffonade and a pinch of black pepper, if desired.
  8. Slice into individual portions and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For a homemade balsamic glaze, simmer 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until reduced by half and thickened, about 10-15 minutes. Let cool before using.

Ensure strawberries are ripe and sweet for the best flavor.

This flatbread can be served as an appetizer, a light lunch, or even a unique dessert.

Consider adding a sprinkle of toasted pecans or walnuts for extra crunch and nutty flavor.
